Research Focusing on Neurological Diseases

Dr. Laurie Mischley has made the evaluation of alternative therapies for neurological diseases a focus of her practice. Her current research is focused on early diagnsotic clues of disease as well as strategies to slow progression of exisiting disease. There are many studies demonstrating that patients with Parkinson's disease have lower levels of the important antioxidant glutathione. The evaluation of glutathione as a treatment in Parkinson's is a critical area of research. Dr. Mischley is co-investigator with prominent Seattle neurologists in a proposed study to evaluate the use of glutathione in the treatment of Parkinson's disease. Dr. Mischley is an adjunct faculty member at Bastyr University and trains future doctors in the use of alternative laboratory diagnostics in naturopathic medical practice.
